    It extends the shelf life.
    Luckily it is on the label. Years ago we did not have a clue what was in our food.

    I believe that is the ingredient that provides comfort.

    The fat that contains the trans fat is cheap and shelf stable. Bottom line is money; the cheaper they can make the product, the more money they make in profit.
